Stop the Highland Mega-Quarry.
Soupstock is a one-day culinary celebration on October 21 2012 that will feature tasty soups from more than 120 of Canada’s top chefs.
The culinary mega-event follows last year’s hugely successful Foodstock event, which drew more than 28,000 people and 100 chefs to a farm adjacent to the Highland Companies’ proposed Mega-Quarry site, 100 kilometres northwest of Toronto.
By bringing the event to Woodbine Park, in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, it is hoped that this celebration of good food will inspire thousands more to join the inspiring movement to stop the Mega-Quarry and protect the Melancthon region’s prized farmland and precious headwaters.
Hosted by the Canadian Chefs’ Congress and the David Suzuki Foundation, all funds raised will be used to continue building a community of support for stopping the controversial Mega-Quarry and for other environmental and food-related issues.
