Interested in offering the Exploring Your Small Farm Dream course as part of your program offerings for new farmers? Do you have a course facilitator in mind?

Join us on November 28th and 29th, 2012 in Guelph for this training opportunity!

Exploring Your Small Farm Dream is a course for people who are thinking about starting a commercial farm business (farming with the intent to make a profit rather than as a hobby or a pastime). Developed by the New England Small Farm Institute (NESFI), the course helps aspiring farmers learn what it would take to start and manage their own “farm dream” and decide whether this the right path for them. Explorer Training Schedule: 
In Guelph (location TBD). Lunch and snacks provided on both days.

Day 1 – Wednesday November 28 (full day): overview of course curriculum for new facilitators; $25/person. Topics include:

  • Overview of sessions and activities
  • Tailoring sessions to participant needs
  • Resources for facilitators and participants

Day 2 – Thursday November 29 (half day): overview of program management for course managers; $20/person. Topics include:

  • Key roles and responsibilities
  • Course planning and management
  • Recruiting/screening participants

We recommend that course facilitators and course managers attend both days if possible.

FarmStart has funds to offset training costs, which would otherwise be $300/person for both days, and to help with travel costs if necessary.
