New Canadians, New Farmers
The objectives of our New Canadians, New Farmers Program are two-fold:
- To strengthen the capacity of new Canadians to farm sustainably in near-urban areas;
- To help meet the growing demand for culturally-appropriate food and fresh produce among Southern Ontario’s diverse urban communities.
With these goals in mind, the program provides training programs and support services to address the needs of new immigrants in the agricultural and farming sectors in Ontario.

Hi!
I am new immingrant living in toronto, I am working in textile mfg company. I grew up in agriculture farm in india. We have farm land in gujarat state in india and we grow peanuts,wheats,vegetable and diffrent fruits. I have gone thorough web and learned something about differnet programs.
I don’t know where to start but my aim is to start doing farming here and grow some vegetables and fruits which are rare to find here. Particularly those are famous in our communities. I could see the land here in ontario is very furtile and seasonal weather too. There is lot more opportunity to grow organic vegetables and fruits locally.
It would be appriciated if you could guide me, do i need to take some training course? Or i could start with new farmers incubator program. But i don’t have experience here.
