Building the Momentum: Future Directions and Strategic Partnerships
The third day of the conference took place in Guelph. The focus of the day was on FarmStart research, specifically related to ethno-cultural market research, new crop trials, and FarmStart’s work with New Canadian farmers.
The morning began with an introduction by Stewart Hilts, Director of the Centre for Land and Water Stewardship. Bill Sciarappa presented the keynote speech and the morning concluded with a panel of FarmStart employees, sharing research from their different programs. You will find links to the presentations below.
A strategic meeting took place during the afternoon session, where various stakeholders in government, agriculture and food organizations, farmers, and others met to discuss the possibilities for world crops in Ontario. The open-forum led to many interesting points on what was needed to develop local supply, as well as outlining the efforts organizations were making to further the development of local world crop production.
