Mike Columbus bio
Mike Columbus was raised on a general farm near Rattle Snake Harbour, Ontario, and received a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Guelph. Throughout his 32 years with OMAFRA, Mike has worked in a range of project positions including Agricultural Land Use Management, Agricultural Energy Management, Transition Crop Team as Crop advisor & Marketing advisor, and Program Advisor to the Tobacco Diversification Program.
Mike cooperates closely with Agriculture & Agri-food Canada researchers, University of Guelph researchers, the Agri-Business Community and, most importantly, with entrepreneurial farmers. Most recently, Mike has served as New Crop Development Specialist based at the Simcoe OMAFRA Resource Centre. He has had a long and dedicated career working with farmers to pioneer non-traditional crops.
