For over 10 years, FarmStart supported a new generation of entrepreneurial, ecological farmers.
We will no longer be able to offer programs and services, due to the lack of core and sustained program funding.
FarmStart developed and offered flexible programs and services that provided new farmers with the resources, tools, and support necessary to get their businesses off the ground and to thrive. Please see About FarmStart for more information about our past work and organization.
Over the last 10 years, no National or provincial (in Ontario) funding streams or programs have focused on the particular opportunities and challenges facing farm renewal and the needs of a new generation of farmers. Funding that provides capacity and sustainability for critical sector partners and valuable programs and services are immediately needed. Please see the Farm Renewal section for our suggestions on what both Federal and Provincial governments could do to better support a new generation of farmers.
We hope that we can share what we have learned, pass on what we can and continue to encourage the conditions for more new, sustainable farmers to grow.
